Add or subtract business days

Enter a start date and a number of working days to get the resulting date, skipping weekends and national holidays. Use a negative number to work backwards from a deadline.

How the date is found

The start date counts as day zero. From there we move one calendar day at a time and only count a day when it is neither a weekend day nor a nationwide holiday. With no holidays in the way, ten working days after a Monday lands on the Monday two weeks later.

Going backwards works the same way. It is the quickest way to find the latest day work can start when the delivery or filing date is already fixed.

Legal deadlines have their own rules

Court deadlines, statutory notice and contractual payment terms each define how to count: whether the first day is included, what happens when the last day is not a working day, and whose calendar applies when parties are in different countries. This tool uses the common working-day convention. For anything with legal consequences, follow the wording of the rule itself.
