Long weekends in Bulgaria, 2027
In 2027, holidays give Bulgaria5 runs of at least three consecutive days off, the longest lasting 4 days. Below they are listed in calendar order, followed by the bridge days that stretch a short break into a long one.
Every long weekend, in date order
| Starts | Ends | Days off | Because of |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fri 1 Jan | Sun 3 Jan | 3 days | New Year's Day |
| Fri 30 Apr | Mon 3 May | 4 days | Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday |
| Sat 22 May | Mon 24 May | 3 days | Saints Cyril and Methodius Day |
| Sat 4 Sep | Mon 6 Sep | 3 days | Unification Day |
| Fri 24 Dec | Mon 27 Dec | 4 days | Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Second day of Christmas |
Bridge days
A bridge day is a lone working day sitting between a holiday and the weekend. Book that one day as leave and the time off joins up into four days or more. Offices tend to be quiet on these dates even though nobody is officially off.
| Date | Weekday | Next to |
|---|---|---|
| 7 May 2027 | Friday | Saint George's Day |
The cheapest leave of the year: spending 1day of annual leave on the bridge above gives you 1 break of at least four days. Expect colleagues to have the same idea, so request these early.
How we find them
Each day of 2027 is marked as a working day or a day off, using Bulgaria's weekend pattern and its nationwide holidays. Consecutive days off are joined into runs; a run of three days or more that includes at least one holiday counts as a long weekend. A plain two-day weekend never qualifies.
Regional holidays are not part of this calculation. If your region has its own dates, you may get extra long weekends that do not appear in the national list.
