What the numbers say about Poland in 2026
The count uses Saturday and Sunday as the weekly rest days, the standard pattern in Poland. Only holidays that apply across the whole country are deducted. Someone working in a region with its own extra days will have a little more time off than these figures show.
6 holidays land on a rest day this year: Easter Sunday (5 Apr), Constitution Day (3 May), Pentecost (24 May), Assumption Day (15 Aug), All Saints' Day (1 Nov), St. Stephen's Day (26 Dec). On the calendar alone that means no extra time off. Some countries move the day off to the next working day; whether that applies here is set by national rules, so check before you plan around it.
July is the longest working month with 23 days, and November the shortest with 20. A gap of 3 days is enough to make a fixed monthly target noticeably harder in some months than in others. Across quarters, Q1 is the leanest at 62 working days (January, February, March).
Among the 204 countries we track for 2026, the median number of national holidays is 12. With 14, Poland sits above the middle of the range, around the 74th percentile (the lowest count this year is 3, the highest 49).
Holidays create 3 stretches of three or more days off in a row. The longest lasts 4 days, from 24 December to 27 December (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, St. Stephen's Day). There are also 3 bridge days: a single working day squeezed between a holiday and the weekend, where one day of leave turns into four or more days away. See every long weekend in 2026.
How holidays work in Poland
Polish labour law contains a rule few other countries have. If a public holiday falls on a Saturday, the employer must give staff another day off within the same settlement period. Weekend collisions are therefore compensated rather than swallowed, and the real number of working days is much steadier than the calendar suggests.
That compensation is not reflected in the counts on this page, because each employer picks the replacement day itself; it is not a fixed date we can place on a calendar. In a year with several Saturday holidays, expect the true working day total to be lower than the figure shown, by one day for each of them.
